This course introduces techniques used in designing, implementing and maintaining database-aware applications that involve user defined functions, stored procedures, triggers, report generation and database forms. Particular attention is paid to XML-based data management (data modeling, processing, querying and messaging) and to existing standards. Issues related to barcode technology applications in healthcare are reviewed and analyzed in the context of a barcode automation project.
